KAABOO, the international music, comedy, art and food festival holds its inaugural event in the Cayman Islands on February 15 and 16 at the festival grounds north of Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa on Grand Cayman’s world-renowned Seven Mile Beach.
Art is at the heart of the KAABOO festival experience with an exhibition and artist’s showcase that fuses fine contemporary and street art.
The lineup includes international mural and installation artist Elle Streetart, whose work has been exhibited at the Saatchi gallery in London; Lauren Ys, a Los Angeles-based artist who has shown in galleries in Vienna, London and Sydney; and Cayman-based artist Tansy Maki, who is well-known on Grand Cayman for her colourful murals and “Driftwood bar” installation at Ave restaurant at Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa.
Rounding out the art exhibition is a veritable gallery’s worth of local artists working in a wide range of media including mural, sculpture, digital art and mixed media.
Artists include Al Ebanks, Gordon Solomon, Randy Chollette and Nasaria Suckoo-Chollette – all members of the Native Sons collective, a well-respected and prolific group whose art promote a uniquely Caymanian aesthetic inspired by cultural heritage. Also featured are Dready, a digital artist whose colourful pieces can be found displayed island wide, and 3 Girls and a Kiln, a three-woman pottery collective.

In addition to art, KAABOO Cayman will feature musical acts including The Chainsmokers, Duran Duran, Bryan Adams and Counting Crows.
