On 6 February, one of the world’s most dynamic and progressive financial conferences kicks off with an impressive lineup of over 80 distinguished presenters, including actress-director-social activist Natalie Portman as keynote speaker and the planet’s most famous magician David Blaine. Now in its sixth consecutive year, The Cayman Alternative Investment Summit 2019, CAIS19, will host 500 of the brightest minds in the global alternative investment industry with its theme Tech-Tonic Shift: Innovation in Alternative Investments.
Held at the Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa, this prestigious three-day event will focus on the impact of digital disruption and innovation in alternative investments. Industry experts and speakers—including high-profile executives from Andreessen Horowitz, Credit Suisse, Ford Motor Company, IBM and UNICEF—will lead intelligent conversations and not-to-be-missed presentations such as “A Quantum Shift: Human vs. Machines” on Feb. 7 and “The Stampede is Coming: Digital Assets in a Global World” on Feb. 8. Attendees will also explore the impact of globalisation, populism and how the alternatives industry can embrace opportunities and challenges in increasingly turbulent markets.
“We’re thrilled to welcome this year’s extraordinary speakers,” says Chris Duggan, Director of CAIS and VP of Business Development for event sponsor, Dart. “The agenda is outstanding and there’s no doubt attendees will enjoy thought-provoking dialogue and friendly debate.”
Duggan is also honored to welcome Natalie Portman. “Her philanthropic involvement will complement conversations on the role of the alternative investment industry in making a positive global impact and how companies have a social responsibility to its people and to its communities.”
Natalie Portman has starred in over 40 films on screen and won an Academy Award for Best Actress in the critically acclaimed film “Black Swan.” Portman has supported several organizations related to promoting women’s educational opportunities, economic advancement, health and safety, and full participation in policy formulation and political activity. Her humanitarian efforts led her to co-found the ‘Time’s Up’ movement against sexual harassment.
Other high-profile speakers include: Scott Kupor, Managing Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, Marisa Drew, CEO of the Impact Advisory and Finance (IAF) Department at Credit Suisse, Dr. Jianbo Lu, Head of Robotics & Intelligent Vehicles at Ford Motor Company, Mark Foster, Senior Vice President at IBM Global Business Services, Mike Penrose, Executive Director at UNICEF UK, Travis Kling, Founder & CIO of Ikigai Asset Management, Teresa Barger, CEO of Cartica Management and Christina Qi, Co-Founder & Partner at Domeyard LP.
“There will also be a fireside chat with David Blaine on the first night,” says Duggan. “He’ll be telling us about his journey and how he revolutionised the way magic is experienced and shown on TV. We expect everyone will leave this year’s event feeling inspired and perhaps even a little bit magical.”
